Even youths grow tired, and young men stumble and fall; But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -Isaiah 40:30-31.
Sisters. Today I wanted to sing to your soul by reminding you of this amazing verse that I love!!!
Even youths grow tired, and young men stumble and fall; But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -Isaiah 40:30-31.
As a young mom this speaks to my heart. Especially the part when it talks about how even youth shall faint and be weary. Sometimes it's so easy to grow weary in the way our lives are going or even with our daily routine of dishes, laundry, dirty diapers and legos that can't seem to stay off the floor. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. This gives me hope that living with weariness and tiredness isn't God's will for me as a Mom. My sisters. We are empowered through Christ by the hope we have in Him!
By the word "hope" I don't mean wish. I feel like hope and wish are words that are often put together however, shouldn't be. In the Bible it speaks of hope as promise and reliance. Knowing that the promises that God makes to us daily will and has come to pass. That He is with us, for us and never against us. That hope. That promise is the strength that can keep us going and thriving to do the extraordinary things.
That promise that God will always be with us and that He will give us the rest we need when we come to Him who renews and restores. I feel like we moms so need to rely on those promises because Motherhood isn't always easy. But most things that are truly worth doing and living are never easy. Jesus didn't die on the cross and send the Holy Spirit to live within us so that we could do easy. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so that we could do the impossible. Which leads to another promise: With God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
But this promise is for all of us. However, in this promise of having hope in the Lord and being renewed and running and not growing weary is also a step that we have to take. We have to choose to put our hope in our Father.
I know for me sometimes it can be easy to put my hope in other things or people without even realizing it. Rather than putting our hope in Our God.
For me I often put my hope in chocolate or coffee or Leon's day off.. Sometimes all three at once!
Most mornings I have put my hope in coffee.. I have to be honest with you. Sometimes when I wake up the first thing on my mind is "Go make that anointed goodness". However, this week I have done my devotions every morning and that's starting to become a lot more of my morning hope but for along time my hope was often in that coffee! It was a rough morning when that coffee wasn't in the house.
Maybe for some of you your hope is in your spouse.. Maybe you survive off of his love, encouragement, help and opinion.
Maybe for some of you your hope is in your organization, production, a clean house or dreams and if they seem to fall apart some days you often do too!
Or maybe your hope is in your mommy day out (which is important!!) or more sleep.
What is it that you're putting your hope in? Are you putting your hope in Jesus? Are you calling out to Him when the day isn't going right? When your toddler is throwing that two hour tantrum or your sweet baby just won't stop crying and you feel like you just can't go on or even take another step without bursting into tears. Are you calling out to Jesus in those times Or are you calling your husband, a friend or chocolate?
And those things aren't bad.. But when our hope is in anything but Christ we are not promised renewal? We're not promised strength and when we turn to Him we are!
My prayer for you today sister and myself as well is that we make that choice and we take that step to choose God. To put are hope in Him this week and see the Jesus difference in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
If you take that step this week I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you already have I'd love to hear your thoughts and testimonies. Many blessings over your week sisters. Love you.
Such great words and reminders. It has always bothered me that the word hope is often used incorrectly in our language today But I am surely guilty of it. It just makes it harder to distinguish between "biblical hope" and "worldly hope" when having a conversation. Another thing I am guilty of is not always putting my hope in Jesus first. Like you, I often hope in coffee. Or my husband. Or other family members. Thanks for the reminder this morning, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to do isn't it?? However, I'm learning when I put my hope in Jesus it fills me up to the best of its potential to thrive. Coffee without Jesus is just survival mode however coffee with Jesus is unstoppable :) thanks friend!!!

DeleteWhat a great and profound word! To put our hope in God alone! There is no other hope - really!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder today. It's so easy to put our hope in people, in stuff, and even in coffee!
I came over on Mommy Moments, and I'm glad to find your post.
Hope you have a blessed day today~

Deletewhat a great reminder!! Sometimes I put my hope in my morning coffee or a nice baked piece of bread at nap time, when I do they always fall short! Nothing but Jesus can sustain and lift us up!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! A nice piece of pumpkin bread!! That's an easy one lol it really does. I've found when my hope is in Jesus I'm in thrive mode. Coffee without Jesus is just survival.
