It was such a Holy Night!

Christmas is only a week away.
My tree is decorated. Stockings are hung. Presents are getting wrapped.

One of my favorite things about this season is the music.
The classic Christmas caroles that get played in department stores and super markets.

My most cherished Christmas song is - O Holy Night.

The lyrics pierce my heart like no other song has.

Oh holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth

What a night! Our Savior was born as man to relate to us. To experience life - like us. We were in sin and in wrong thinking, wrong doing until He showed up in our lives. Then our soul encountered something it hadn't before - complete worth. We are worthy because He lives in us. Because God sent His Son to us!

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
Oh Hear the angels voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born.

The hard, tiring, exhausting, scary, frustrating, scary world rejoices for tomorrow brings a new and beautiful day! Thats what I hear when I listen to that part of the song. Its over. The new day is upon us because Christ is here. This beautiful and incredible gift was given to us.

- . - . - . -

We can get so distracted in this time... a lot of my fellow mommas here at Arrows and Warriors have discussed that.
Friends, listen to the lyrics of these classic Christmas songs. Let the words linger on your mind a little longer. Remember what an incredible time this is to celebrate the birth of Jesus! Its not about Santa or Rudolph. Its not about presents or even about acts of kindness. Its about that Holy night when Christ was born.

    1. Once I take the moment to really listen to the words -- it just grips my heart!
