This is such a beautiful season. I love Christmas time and everything that comes with it! I love the seasonal Christmas mugs, the lights, the red cups at starbucks and the look of excitement I see on my daughters face when we do our Christmas activity (Who by the way has managed to find out that there are presents in the house and asks for them daily!!!) And most of all I love this time of year where we reflect on the Birth of Jesus.
But I've also noticed that in this season we moms have a big plate to fill it seems..I've personally been there where we feel like we have to make it the best Christmas ever for our kids. We have to do everything right. We have to buy the gifts they've been wanting, make everything from scratch, decorate the house and do all those traditions that you've been wanting to do to make it the best Christmas ever. Sometimes we get discouraged by media as other moms posts pictures of Christmas time and maybe it doesn't look like yours so you get discouraged.
Can I just take a second of your busy schedule to encourage you? Remember my friend that in this busy and fun, meaningful season that you are enough!
I encourage you to set yourself free from the idea of perfection. The idea that your kids have to get everything they've wanted for Christmas, The ideas that your cookies have to be made from scratch, the idea that everything you do has to be Pinterest worthy or it won't be good enough and I encourage you to set yourself free from other moms and what they do, how many presents they buy and how many activities they do. I say you're more than enough, your kids think you're awesome and God says what you're doing for your kids is perfect! Don't think about what you can't do this season. Think about what you can and are doing. And try not to sweat it but instead enjoy it.
Much love! Xoxo-Heather.
I needed this today. Home from work with two sick babies on top of everything else has me a bit overwhelmed this morning. This helped me get back my perspective. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad friend! I hope your Tuesday is much better! <3 and you're babies heal quickly!
Deleteyes yes. so so needed this. I am always trying to do too much to make it the "best Christmas" and really my boys are so small they dont even know what is going on. I was so stressed out the other day because there was a 3 hour wait to see Santa and after wasting 2 hours in town, Seth couldnt handle it anymore. It was also close to his bed time. I feel awful that I got so upset. He wont even remember this! Who knows if he will even ENJOY it. I know I need to slow down and savor the moments and extend grace to myself in this season.
ReplyDeleteRight? I keep having to remind myself as well!! They're happy when we're happy :)
DeleteWow! That was awesome! It made me cry! (in a good way ;) as a mom its so easy to feel inadequate. Thank you for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad, friend!! It was straight from the heart of where I've been through :) <3
