A gift of peace

“I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

As mamas it is so easy to get caught up in fear. Fear that we are not parenting well, fear that our children will get hurt, and fear that we aren’t teaching our children enough, fear of the evil around us in the world and fear of the unknown future.

As things change in this world and darkness appears to be taking over (though the darkness will not win, we know that so take heart), I know that the future is very uncertain for our children. They will live in a world so different than ours, just like we live in a world so different than the world our parents were raised in.

The thing is, God never promises life on this world will be easy, in fact, he guarantees it will be difficult. However he does promise that with Him we can have peace and don’t need to fear. No matter what happens on earth, no matter what evil appears to prevail and no matter what losses we suffer, we are promised if we lean into Jesus, we will be given peace. Nothing in this world can give us peace, nothing in this world can provide us true security.

Only in Jesus is their true peace. How would your perspective of your children’s future change if you truly believed his promise to give you peace of mind and heart?

He doesn't want us to protect our children from evil and sadness. He wants us to prepare our children to face this world. He wants us to love our children and teach them to love others, not to fear others. He wants us to send them out and trust that He has them in his arms. He wants us to teach them of his gift of peace, and it starts by letting go of our own fear. It starts by allowing our kids to see our own peace instead of our fear.
